5. Author and Work

Jane Harrison , whose mother was Aboriginal and her father white, is a descendent of the Muruwari people of New South Wales. She was born in Melbourne in 1960. After her education at Upwey High School she obtained a diploma of Industrial Design and Certificate of Business Studies (Advertising) .

She started working in graphic design and publishing before she went into advertising as a copywriter. This was the starting point for a larger career in writing across a wide range of media before she finally became a freelance writer in 1992. Meanwhile her writing experiences cover advertising campaigns, teenage fiction, book reviews and various short articles. The great success of her drama "Stolen" encouraged her to continue exploring indigenous themes in her work.
